Description :
X Space Cruiser is a racing game that include a single player training mode and a two players versus mode.

It requires at least a shader model 2 capable graphics card (Geforce 6 or higher recommended) and features shadow mapping and post process effects such as motion blur.

The game is currently playable on Windows XP/Vista, but an Xbox 360 version will be available (as soon as I get an Xbox 360).

One (or two) XInput compatible controller(s) are required as no keyboard support is offered at this time, but should come in a few days.

I would like to insist on the fact that this game doesn’t share any portion of code with the XNA Racing Game starter kit ; it was built from scratch during my free time, and took a little more than 2 months of late nights and week-ends to be ready.

The rules are pretty simple: In the single player mode, you train yourself, and in the two players mode, you have to complete the required number of laps before your opponent. The physics engine supports the collisions between the two players so they won’t just pass through each other.

There’s only one special rule in the two players mode : to keep the challenge of the game, if one of the players outrun the other by a significant amount, he has a 10% speed handicap as long as he isn’t approach by the other.

The game must contain some bugs ; so please report them either by posting a comment or by emailing me at xspacecruiser@free.fr

Update : Keyboard support have been added temporarily, see this news for more info.
